About “Weekly Updates”

March 9th, 2010

Two days ago, I made a set of threads called “Weekly Updates”. The goal of creating these specific threads was to provide Wiiloaded users with a way to give out their friend codes and receive others quicker annd easier. Its not secret technology or anything, its just me provide you with updates on any new post on threads about gaming every sunday without you having to come to the site. I dont want new users to create a new game thread and receive less FC because people dont feel like putting their info more than once or that the user hasnt been on for months. Although this may seem large and too much to handle, and for some this may seem like a way to get attention but im doing this to keep most gamers of the community together.
Another reason why people may find this to be irrelevent is that there is already a way to get email notifications but its for every single thing this is posted. Me, if you wish to, I can send you a weekly email every Sunday between 9 to 10 on news about any threads I made for a game and the number of posts for any current threads I have.
I know there are people who still want to get FCs for Conduit, COD WAW and SSBB but since they dont want to check the site(or they just forgot about it), how will new users will be able to get FCs. Remember, its not just PS3 where you just friend request someone, you need to communicate with the other person to get FCs for Wii.
In the end, Im just doing this to make sure people could exchange Wii FCs quick and simple without being screwed over like some old and new user like myself. If you want to receive Weekly updates on my new threads and post, you can always PM me a blank message to show me you want a update. Better yet, you can give me your email address and i will send you an email every Sunday between 9 to 10. Or you can just email me at frosty54137@yahoo.com. Sorry if I bother you during these two days but I’m very curious to see if this works. I mean it all starts with the users.

Codemasters Announces First-Person Shooter Bodycount for PS3

March 9th, 2010

Codemasters has today announced a new First Person Shooter  for the PS3 called Bodycount.  The game is currently in production at Codemasters Studios in Guildford, and is being designed by Creative Director Stuart Black (co-creator and designer of 2006’s Black). The development team is creating the game using the EGO Game Technology Platform. In the game, players become embroiled in a secret global power struggle as they take on the role of a powerful combat asset eliminating targets on behalf of a clandestine network.

The aptly named Bodycount will feature state-of-the-art weaponry, which players can use to tear through destructible cover and execute explosive kills. It will also feature the by now almost obligatory online multiplayer and co-operative game modes. Here’s what Stuart Black has to say about his and the team’s vision for the game:

“We’re all massive FPS fans and believe that there’s room for a refresh of the shooter experience. Everything in Bodycount is absolutely centered on the bullet and its impact on the world. Our shredding tech enables us to create a different kind of gameplay, where players and AI can’t hide behind indestructible cover and rely on whack-a-mole mechanics. Here the environment is constantly changing as the game world is shot to hell; it’s going to be a huge amount of fun.”

Them’s fighting words indeed! Bodycount is scheduled for release in Q1 2011, which is way too long to wait after having seen these first two jaw-dropping screenshots!

[Mac] Valve Bringing Steam & Source to the Mac

March 8th, 2010

Today, Valve announced that they will be bringing their Steam service and Source engine to the Macintosh platform.

To make this announcement with your while, Mac fans, Valve says that they’ll be releasing their library of games including Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Counter-Strike, Portal, and the Half-Life series along with Steam come this April.

In their announcement, Valve says that they’ll be treating the Macintosh as a “tier-1 platform”, meaning that you’ll be getting new game releases at the same time as Windows and Xbox 360 users, updates for Mac versions of games will release as the same time as the ones for Windows, and that Mac and Windows users will share “the same multiplayer universe”. This means you’ll be sharing servers, lobbies and such.

So what do you think of Valve’s approach to reaching out to the Mac platform for gaming? Do you think it’s a good thing that we’ll be expanding the “proper” audience of gamers or do you think it’s a complete waste of time?

Resident Evil Creator Shinji Mikami’s Vanquish Announced for PS3

March 8th, 2010

SEGA Europe and Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami have today unveiled some screenshots and nuggets of information about forthcoming third-person action-shooter, Vanquish. Developed by Platinum games and directed by Shinji Mikami, Vanquish is an epic sci-fi shooter with a frenetic combat system and an immersive storyline set in the near future, where Russia and the US are at war over the planet’s dwindling energy resources. Players take the role of Sam, a government agent who wears a futuristic battle suit and wields an impressive array of weapons, as well as being a skilled martial artist. This is what Shinji Mikami had to say about the game:

“Vanquish is a game where we’ve tried to inject the extreme pace of an action game into a shooter. The gameplay and staging are all put together around the keyword ‘intensity’. I think it’s very rare to come across a game where shooting loads of robots is so much fun.”

Vanquish is due for release in Winter 2010 on PlayStation 3.
